East Coast Rail Link (ECRL)
At the witness of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and the Malaysian counterpart, CCCC and MRL (Malaysia Rail Link Sdn. Bhd.) signed the contract in Beijing on November 1st 2016. The total contract worth 55 billion ringgit, as a flagship project of the “Belt and Road” initiatives, which so far is the largest overseas project of Chinese companies under construction and will continue to be the most eye-catching mega project both in Malaysia and in the entire South-east Asia.
ECRL crosses the peninsular Malaysia, from east coast to west coast, connecting Wakaf Bharu in Kelantan and Port Klang in Selangor. The design of this project adopts level 1 of Chinese national standard in electrified rail way, with the designed speed of passenger train at 160km/h and freight train at 80km/h. The length of the railway line is 688km.
ECRL will create a considerable influence on the transportation system locally, regionally as well as globally, which is a solid and profound practicing of the “Belt and Road” initiatives. By connecting the major cities and towns of both east and west coast of Malaysia, this project will be a game changer, will greatly spur commerce, logistics, trading and promote tourism, thereby enhancing the wellbeing, convenience and quality of life of Malaysian people.
Electrified Double-Tracking Railway from Gemas to Johor Bahru Project
The project is located from Gemas to its south, connecting Northern of Johor State, Gemas to Johor Bahru, with total length of 191.14km; it is an electrified double-tracking meter-gage railway. CCCC is responsible from CH710+267 to CH754+180, with the length of 43.193km, it is located the most southern part of the whole project. The project will pass through 2 stations (Kulal and Kempas Baru) and one depot (Kempas Baru) along CCCC’s project line.
This project will further strengthen the government’s relationship between China and Malaysia, enhancing the economic and trade cooperation between two countries; accelerate the development of the “Belt and Road” initiatives, and provide a solid foundation for CCCC to execute the “Grand Oversea” strategy in order for the company to fully develop overseas railway market.
